Your visit
Before, during and after your appointment
Before your visit
Our rooms are in Suite 5, Level 2 of the Blue Shield Specialist Medical Centre, 19 Kensington Street, Kogarah — directly opposite St George Public Hospital. If you are a new patient, please register online before you come, or arrive 10–15 minutes early to complete registration and a short health questionnaire.

What to bring
- A current referral letter from your doctor — a valid referral allows a Medicare rebate for your consultation and any procedures done at the time.
- Any relevant imaging such as a CT or MRI, hearing tests or blood results.
- Your Medicare or DVA card and private health insurance details.
Fees and payment
Consultations are not bulk billed; the fee is quoted when you book. Procedures done on the day of consultation are charged at the full Medicare rebate. Full payment is required on the day by EFTPOS, credit card or cash; your Medicare claim is lodged for you and the rebate usually appears in your account within 24 hours.
Common questions
How long is my appointment?
A new appointment is 20–30 minutes; a follow-up is 15 minutes.
Will I be able to drive home?
Yes — nothing done at a consultation prevents you from driving.
Do I need someone with me?
No, but family and friends are welcome for support.
What if English is not my first language?
Consultations are in English; please tell us when booking if you need an interpreter. Dr Cavada also consults in Portuguese.
Can tests be done on the day?
Often yes — hearing tests, allergy testing and nasal airway measurement are available in our suite, and pathology collection is in the building.
